Why get involved?

We don't want anything to stop you from getting involved, it is the Involvement Team's job to make sure involvement opportunities are accessible to all tenants, here's some of what we do:


Taxis can be organised to bring you to and from meetings if you have mobility issues or struggle with public transport. In addition, we can also reimburse mileage costs if you attend meetings using your own car.


We pay a £5 allowance for every meeting you attend as a small way to say thank you for your time. We also from time to time have opportunities for tenants to go to award ceremonies and local events.

Employment Skills

As an involved tenant you will learn lots of new skills and gain experience in:

  • working as part of a team
  • planning and organising
  • time management

These are all skills that employers are looking for and you will be able to put on your CV.


If you already have a child minder we can reimburse you for their costs (providing they are registered with OFSTED) so you are not out of pocket from attending meetings and events with us. If you do not already have a child minder, we may also be able to signpost you to a provider.

Meeting your needs

We will cater for any other special requirements you may have by:

  • holding meetings at a variety of times so people with work or childcare commitments can still come
  • holding meetings and events in accessible spaces which everyone can access without difficulty
  • providing translation or interpretation if your first language is not English
  • catering for dietary or religious preferences


Before joining any groups or meetings you will receive full induction training to help you know what to expect and what your role as an involved tenant will be.

Training and development is an important part of being an involved tenant so that you are equipped with the skills you need to be an involved tenant but also good for real life too.

We have our own bespoke tenants training programme covering topics such as:

  • IT / Computers
  • Welfare Reform
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Equality and Diversity

Our training is designed to be demand-led so we can also look to arrange other specific training if you feel you want to gain skills in any other areas.

The Involvement team are always on hand to provide support to make sure you get the most out of being an involved tenant.
